If you haven’t had the opportunity to attend this new attraction on Pier 39, then you are missing out! The Flyer: San Francisco takes you on a simulated flying tour of San Francisco’s greatest attractions, all in about 20 minutes! When you first enter The Flyer, you will instantly notice that there are seagulls everywhere- painted on the walls, as various plushies, and on T-shirts. Seagulls make up a very large population in the Bay and you may quickly notice that they are also shameless thieves, often yanking peoples food right from their hands without any remorse. So, it is no coincidence that the main character of this simulated flight is a San Franciscan seagull with magpie syndrome.
The experience begins with the friendly employees leading you to a camera to take pictures for you and your group. There are three very unique pictures to take and are very worth taking! After your photo op, you are led to a room with multiple unique screens that follows a heartwarming love story about two starry-eyed San Francisco City natives. The story continues into a room where you are buckled in to motion seats and wait to fly over San Francisco. Then, when everyone is securely seated, the real adventure begins: the fans turn on and the seats begin to move with the motion of the images, accurately simulating flight! The visuals of the area you and the seagull are flying through are breathtaking. Some of the locations you get to soar through are Golden Gate Bridge, China Town, and Lombard Street and, if you pay close attention, you may even spot one of our San Francisco Love Tours Buses!
After the simulation, you are led back to the lobby where you have the opportunity to purchase your photos, pick up a souvenir, and get your very own seagull! Be sure to check it out!
The Flyer is open everyday from 10am-8pm. Cost is $16 for children 12 & under and $25 per adult. It is located right above the Hard Rock Café next to the Aquarium of the Bay.
